Same here. Tried to make a custom flame thrower and ran into issues. That said, a rocket turret would work fine. Also, you might be able to spawn the projectile further out, though it would look bad. Certain weapons, like the cannon shell, damage friendly entities when fired through them. I'd like an entity flag to turn off impact with friendly entities, mainly for use in turrets. Assuming it uses tank turret shells, its not the fact that it deals AOE damage, so much as the fact that factorio doesn't support filters on impact projectiles. Same thing as trying to shoot a shotgun through a wall. The walls gotta go first.... Pretty much. That's why I put the warning in the op. ...

I have made a standalone mod for a 2x2 cannon turret, plus research and upgrades.
I need a matching set of cannon turret, damage upgrade, and rate of fire upgrade sprites. The turret should match the general Factorio turret style and look like it can take some hits.

Starting ore does not respond appropriately to size and richness changes. One cannot increase richness and size in the config without disproportionately increasing the value of starting deposits. Instead, it will have the same per-tile value regardless of any size setting in config.lua or vanilla.lu...
